The Complete Parts Line for Brake and Suspension Systems

Trailer Brake Spider Plate

The structural anchor for your 4707 and 4710 brake shoe configuration. Built from heavy-duty cast iron to OEM spec, this spider plate is designed to withstand braking heat, install without modification, and keep brake shoes properly aligned for consistent stopping power. It also securely holds the S-cam shaft and anchor pins under load while resisting corrosion for long-lasting performance.

Spider Plate Installation Tool

From dry vans to tankers, our precision trailer spindles are engineered to fit SAF-Holland, Hendrickson, and Dexter models. Whether you need parallel, tapered, or OEM-spec spindles, we provide the reliable trailer spindle solutions your heavy-duty fleet needs. Here’s how you select the right spindle for your trailer.

Hendrickson Suspension Hanger Bushing Ring

Engineered for Hendrickson RS, HT, HLA, and select HTR/Hybrid systems. It absorbs shock, reduces vibration, and maintains alignment to keep your suspension performing mile after mile.

Holland Suspension Bushing Ring

A direct replacement for Holland suspension systems. It helps the suspension line up correctly again, reduces strain on the frame, and makes the ride feel smoother without requiring a major repair job.

When to Replace Brake and Suspension Components on a Trailer

Your brake and suspension hardware are structural components critical to your trailer’s braking system. These are not wear items you can defer. Delaying replacement compounds damage throughout the entire system.

Spider Plate: Look for ovality around the anchor pin holes, cracking in the housing, or excessive play in the S-cam bushing bore. A cracked spider plate is an out-of-service condition under federal inspection standards.

Suspension Bushing Rings: Watch for increased vibration, uneven load distribution, or visible deterioration around the hanger pivot. The bushing ring and hanger bushing work as a pair; replace both together.

Why Correct Fitment Matters on a Commercial Axle

A spider plate that is even slightly off-center causes one brake shoe to carry more load than the other. Over thousands of miles, that imbalance leads to accelerated wear, reduced stopping power, and potential DOT inspection flags. Correct installation requires the right tool.

For trailer spider plates, select the correct S-cam type, trailer brake shoe and axle tube OD. For suspension bushing rings, choose wide or narrow to match your setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Trailer Brake Spider Plate is engineered for the 4707 and 4710 brake shoe configuration. This is the most widely used drum brake setup on North American Class 8 semi-trailers and is compatible with axles from Meritor, Hendrickson, SAF-Holland, Dexter, and other major manufacturers.

The Axle Spindle Trailer Brake Spider Plate is built from heavy-duty cast iron and finished to OEM specifications, giving it strong inherent resistance to the rust and corrosion that road salt, moisture, and braking heat accelerate over time. Cast iron is the industry-standard material for spider plates precisely because of its durability under harsh operating conditions. Properly installed and maintained, our spider plate is engineered to deliver long-lasting corrosion resistance throughout the component’s full service life.

Yes, the Axle Spindle Trailer Spider Plate is a welded component, and correct installation requires a precise, properly aligned weld. Even slight off-center placement causes uneven brake shoe loading, accelerated wear, and potential DOT inspection failures. That is why we manufacture the Axle Spindle Spider Plate Installation Tool specifically for this job. It clamps directly onto the axle tube and locks the spider plate in position for the entire weld, eliminating the guesswork of tacking, checking, and readjusting.
