Semi-Trailer Parallel Spindle

Parallel spindles have a uniform, cylindrical shape with the same diameter along the entire length of the spindle. This straightforward design simplifies manufacturing and provides consistent performance, making it easier to balance loads and maintain stability.

The parallel shape is compatible with ball bearings or cylindrical roller bearings, which are excellent at handling radial loads. This makes parallel spindles well-suited for trailers that carry lighter, more consistent loads, such as utility trailers, car haulers, and some dry van or box trailers.

Parallel spindles typically require less frequent maintenance due to their simpler design and fewer components. However, it’s still essential to perform regular inspections and ensure proper lubrication to maintain their longevity and reliability.

Spindle Maintenance

Do You Have a Problematic Spindle?

Wheel bearing maintenance is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of commercial vehicle upkeep. Many truck and trailer owners are unaware of the importance of regular wheel bearing checks and lubrication changes. If neglected, this can lead to damaged spindles and dangerous situations as break pads can become compromised by leaking bearing lubricants and grease.

When inspecting your truck or trailer for signs of trouble, listen for unusual noises like whirring, clicking, or clunking, particularly while turning. Unusual vibrations can also be an indicator as well as visual signs like bearing grease leaking from the boot. A quick visual inspection of the inner side of the wheel’s rim will help identify any issues.
